US-backed QSD groups continue to prevent farmers from marketing their wheat to governmental centers in al- Hasakah
Al-Hasakah, (ST) – Two weeks after the start of the wheat harvest, the QSD groups supported by the American occupation forces continue to prevent farmers from marketing their wheat to the governmental centers in al-Hasakah which causes great suffering to farmers who refuse to deliver their wheat to any party other than the official government side.
Dozens of trucks loaded with tons of wheat are still on the roads waiting for the groups of QSD to stop their intimidation practices and allow them to continue and reach the marketing centers accredited by the Syrian Grains Establishment at the price determined by the state.
Abu Issa, from the people of Tal Barak district, who is accumulating his wheat crop in front of his house and waiting to market it to the government centers said to SANA reporter that”the Syrian state has given the farmer his right and estimated his effort which encourages him to continue farming while those who prevent the arrival of wheat to the centers of the Syrian state want to continue to steal people’s livelihoods and complete the chain of harassment of farmers to abandon their lands and regions”.
Eng. Obaidah, the Director of the Syrian Grain Establishment Branch in al-Hasakah, confirms that the QSD groups continue to prevent farmers and producers from transferring and marketing their crops to the establishment’s centers to benefit from the incentive measures and the lucrative prices set by the Syrian government. He pointed out that these measures negatively affected citizens and increased their economic burdens.
In the same context, local sources confirmed to SANA reporter that the QSD groups are trying to close the main roads in front of the farmers. They are tightening and preventing the arrival of the wheat to the marketing centers, pointing to the continued refusal of the farmers to deliver their produce to QSD groups who try to steal it through the prices imposed by these groups that are not fair if compared with the effort of the farmer.
The sources indicated that preventing the farmers from marketing their productions and the fires caused by the Turkish occupation mercenaries in addition to the American occupation planes are continuing within a systematic policy to starve the people and exhaust them economically through burning crops and imposing royalties to push them to leave agriculture forever.
Statistics of the Hasakeh Agriculture Directorate show the size of the suffering of farmers who incurred significant material losses during the current season, as wheat areas that were burned by the fires amounted to 12445 hectares, while barley areas reached 6685 hectares, the majority of which are in the areas of al-Hasaka and Ras Al-Ainoccupied by the forces of the Turkish regime and his mercenaries from terrorist organizations.
