Al-Houthi denounces UN’s ignorance of Saudi violations of Yemeni children’s rights

Sana’a (ST): Member of the Higher Political Council in Yemen Mohammad Ali al-Houthi affirmed that the UN’s writing off the name of Saudi Arabia from its annual report about the children’s rights in conflicts proved the chaotic nature of the UN and its ignorance of humanitarian standards.

In a tweet he made today, al-Houthi said that the UN’s move co-incided with a new savage massacre committed by Saudi Arabia and the US in Sa’ada governorate in which 13 martyrs fell including women and children.

Earlier, the UN Secretary General António Guterres had struck out the Saudi Aggression against Yemen from his annual report about the violations of children’s rights claiming that the crimes retreated remarkably.

Human Rights Watch condemned what it called a “new level of shame” after eliminating the name of Saudi Arabia from the report, noting that this report ignores the striking  evidence submitted by the UN itself concerning the gross violations children’s rights in Yemen.

The Observation Agency in charge of children in armed conflicts said that the UN Secretary General in his new report, will make children subject to more fierce attacks. The Organization held the Saudi aggression responsible for killing or mutilating more than 222 Yemeni children last year.
