International Criminal Court : US sanctions are an unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law

The International Criminal Court ( ICC ) has affirmed that  US President Donald Trump’s authorization of  economic  and travel sanctions against  ICC employees   are “an unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law”.

The ICC  underlined   that it will continue its work “without hesitation.”

“These attacks    constitute an escalation  and unacceptable attempt to interfere with the rule of law and the  Court’s judicial proceedings” the ICC  said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement pointed out that an attack on the ICC also represents an attack against the interest of victims of atrocity crimes , for many of  whom the Court represents the last hope for justice.

The statement expressed “ profound regret at President Donald Trump’s sanctions on the ICC.

The White House announced on Thursday  that  President Trump authorized the imposition of economic sanctions on any official of the International Criminal Court , who investigates  US soldiers  without the consent of the United States ..

This authorization  by Trump   represents  a new attack by his administration against international organizations, treaties and agreements that do not comply with  US  administration.
