Ministry of Health: Non-compliance with preventive measures will lead to impose strict precautionary measures again
Damascus, (ST) – The Ministry of Health stressed the need to raise the level of preparedness and investigation to tackle the Corona virus, with recording 21 infections among contacts of people coming abroad, indicating that although the number of infections is not huge, but it is a dangerous indication of some recklessness and the possibility of developing infections and spreading the infection more . This matter will force us return to impose strict precautionary measures again.
The Ministry clarified in a statement read today by the deputy director of communicable and chronic diseases at the ministry, Dr. Atef Al-Tawil that it had taken, immediately after the discovery of infections between contacts of foreigners, measures to limit the spread of infection through quarantine on the town of Ras al-Ma`ra in Damascus countryside.
In its statement, the Ministry warned of the danger of reckless and irresponsible health behavior of some to the safety of their families, their surroundings and society, and to economic and service activity in light of these developments, pointing out that the high rate of infections and the development of the epidemiological situation may mean having to return to the application of precautionary measures at the national level.
The Ministry indicated that in the past period it was able to contain the pandemic with quick measures and reach epidemiological stability, but that any irresponsible behavior may return Syria to the danger zone, especially with the recent statements of the World Health Organization that the situation of the new Corona virus is getting worse around the world .
The ministry emphasized that what is required now is awareness and commitment to individual prevention measures, not fear and panic, and the circulation of rumors and false information. It renews its keenness to publish any new development on the Corona pandemic through its online and the social media.
The ministry pointed out that while the countries of the world are doing their utmost to confront Coronavirus, the United States and European countries continue to undermine the capabilities of the health sector in Syria and its capabilities to respond to the pandemic and meet the citizens health needs by striving to impose unilateral inhuman economic measures on the country And depriving the Syrian people of their most basic rights to health, which requires the urgent intervention of the international community and raising the voices loudly to lift these measures.
It is noteworthy that the total number of registered infections with the Coronavirus in Syria hit 146 cases, 62 of them have recovered, 6 cases have died and 78 cases are still being treated.
