Descendants of Omar al-Mukhtar: “we will confront and expel the Turkish invaders and their terrorist mercenaries”

TRIPOLI, (ST)-  The claims made by the President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he is supporting the descendants of Omar al-Mukhtar( the well-known Libyan freedom fighter) in fighting terrorists in Libya, are an attempt to deceive the Libyans and cover up his invasion of Libyan territories, an invasion using terrorists and mercenaries he brought from Syria. The Libyan people, who are the real descendants of Omar al-Mukhtar, in turn, responded by stressing that they will confront the Turkish invasion by all means.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the Council of the Elders of Bir al-Ashhab, the place of birth of Mujahid Omar Mukhtar, and the tribesmen of al-Manfa tribe, said that “In its invasion of Libya, the Turkish regime is committing flagrant violations and crimes that amount to war crimes,” denouncing Erdogan’s claims that he will continue to provide support to the descendants of Omar al-Mukhtar in their war against terrorists.

“The Turkish warplanes are today the ones that are killing the descendants of Mujahid Omar al-Mukhtar,” the statement added, describing Erdogan as a person who suffers from mental disorder and who has no moral values.

“Erdogan is the one who resorted to  sending thousands of mercenaries and foreign terrorists to fight in Libya, because he could not find a single  descendant  of Omar al-Mukhtar ready to fight for him and for his destructive project in the region,” the statement asserted.

“We affirm that we will dedicate all our capabilities, including men and equipment, to expel the Turkish invaders from Libya as our ancestors did. We will follow our ancestors’ footsteps and the invaders will find nothing but confrontation until they are expelled from every inch of this pure land,” the statement concluded.
