Rouhani: The world must stand up to American conspiracies

Tehran,(ST)-Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that Iran will continue to enhance its defense capabilities despite all the circumstances and challenges, calling on the countries of the world to stand up to American conspiracies, especially with regard to withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and attempts to extend the arms embargo on Iran.

Rouhani said during the cabinet session today that “the Iranian people are aware of the American terrorist ban yet, they managed to break the embargo and the harsh American pressures.” Rouhani added, “The second point that I want to emphasize is that the people are aware that our country has faced unprecedented severe sanctions by the White House rulers since the beginning of year 1397 (early 2018), and unfortunately they forced other countries to cooperate in some cases.”

In turn, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi stressed that Iran cannot be subject to the embargo and pressure.

On the US Congress’s plan to impose more embargoes on Iran, Mousavi said in a statement today: “All the embargo measures announced by the Americans have already been imposed and they have divided and classified the embargo measures… However, these measures are ineffective and have no international support and unilateral embargoes are illegal and before they target Iran, they target America’s allies and global free trade, saying that the US government should abandon unilateral and illegal measures and manipulate laws and regulations.
