Idleb (ST): The Ministry of Religious Endowment is working to rehabilitate the tomb of the Umayyad caliph Omar Bin Abdul Aziz which was devastated by the terrorist organizations in al-Deir al-Sharqi town in Idleb governoate.
A specialized team from Aleppo Directorate of Religious Endowment has visited the site to start the renovation process.
The Director of Aleppo Religious Endowment Dr. Mohammad Rami al-Obaid said that after the liberation of al Deir al-Sharqi town the team started repairing the damage caused to the monument by the terrorists, noting that it will be re-opened to visitors soon.
The damage was caused by the terrorist organizations, especially al-Nosra Front which has been destroying archaeological sites, tombs and monuments.
Syrian Arab Army units liberated several towns in the southern countryside of Idleb city last January 28 including al-Deir al-Sharqi town in Maaret al-Numan.
