The “Harvest” painting crowns Syria with bronze in an international children’s Picture Contest

In a new cultural achievement, the “Harvest” painting that depicts  the Syrian heritage during the wheat harvest season painted by  15-year-old, Majd Al-Zaqout, won the bronze award in the “27th Annual World Children’s Picture Contest’, organized by Hikari Foundation in cooperation with the Japanese National Organization for Agricultural Cooperation.

SANA quoted Al-Zaqout as saying: “The golden colors of the painting expressing joy, goodness and blessing embody the aesthetics of the immaterial Syrian heritage during the ritual of the wheat harvest season.

Majd stressed that this award has motivated him a lot and encouraged him to continue developing his talent and work to refine it so that he can participate in various international competitions, indicating that he presents  his award  to the children of Syria who have defied all the difficult circumstances during the years of the terrorist war on Syria and continued their academic achievement, developed their talents and took part in scientific and cultural competitions and events.

Majd’s talent appeared at the age of eleven as his family and teacher, Safa Bondoq, used to support and improve his talent, through enrolling him in training courses in a number of institutes that teach drawing, so he mastered drawing “with, ink, charcoal, oil colors and portrait painting”. He participated in several individual and group exhibitions organized by a number of authorities affiliated to the Ministries of Education and Culture, during which he won the first place at the level of Syria.

Head of the Fine Arts Office at  Al-Baath Vanguards Organization, Heba Sa’eed, indicated in a statement to SANA the role of the organization in developing the talents of children and adolescents and ensuring their participation in local, Arab and international various cultural activities and competitions.

Majd’s “Harvest”  is one of the 300 paintings for children and adolescents from different countries of the world who participated in the competition, 27 of them are from Syria.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian child Nibal Marwan Al-Tawil also won the bronze award in the 25th round of the same competition in 2018.
