Egyptian politician calls for forming international alliance against western coercive measures imposed on Syria

CAIRO, (ST)- Egypt’s People’s Democratic Party has condemned the European Union’s decision to extend the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, calling for forming an international alliance to confront these unjust measures.

Deputy head of the party Sayyed al-Asyouti said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Cairo that all the coercive measures imposed by Washington and the European Union contradict international legitimacy resolutions and have nothing to do with humanitarian values.

He added that the global health crisis caused by the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic necessitates canceling such measures, but the West insists on imposing sanctions because it aims at achieving its own agenda and aspirations which disregard all values and humanitarian standards.

The Egyptian politician urged international cooperation to fight coronavirus pandemic and called for forming an international alliance to lift the unfair sanctions imposed on Syria.
