U.S. to use the pretext of fighting drug trafficking in Bogota to destabilize Caracas

In an escalatory  step that reflects Washington’s insistance on exploiting the countries that are near Venezuela to destabilize Caracas, a U.S. army unit will arrive in Colombia in the coming days under the pretext of helping the Andean country’s armed forces fight against drug trafficking for a four-month period.

The U.S. Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) will arrive in Colombia in early June, the US embassy in Bogota said on Wednesday, without specifying the size of the unit.

Colombia colludes with the Trump Administration to topple the legitimate government in Venezuela .

Last Thursday, Venezuelan authorities said  they had seized 39 military deserters trying to enter the country from Colombia, saying they are linked to the failed armed incursion by sea early in the month that was aimed at toppling President Nicolas Maduro.

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said authorities assume the captured deserters “came to fulfill a task as part of the general scheme” of the thwarted maritime incursion. He repeated the government’s charge that the raid had “foreign financing, with equipment supplied by powers such as the United States and the government of Colombia itself.”
