BEIRUT,(ST)_ Patriarch Gregorios III Laham of Antioch and All the East for Greek – Orthodox Melkite stressed the importance of Vatican role for making peace, especially in Palestine and Syria, and visits by the Holy See officials to Syria for establishing peace in this country.
During his meeting with Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, head of Vatican ‘s Eastern Churches complex at the headquarters of the Patriarchate in Rabweh on Saturday, Patriarch Lahham said that “Cardinal Sandri’s visit emphasizes continued contacts and integration with the Holy See.”
He underlined the importance of such meetings in order Christian-Muslim dialogue and achieving the objectives of the Apostolic guiding principles .
The two sides discussed the situation in the region and the challenges encountered it and the Christian presence, particularly in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine.
