The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issues clarification regarding the process of returning Syrian citizens stranded abroad
Damascus, (ST) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a clarification today regarding the instructions it issued yesterday about the process of returning Syrian citizens stranded abroad due to the measures taken by most countries of the world to restrict the spread of the Corona virus, especially those related to closing borders and restricting travel and air traffic.
In a statement in response to the questions of some citizens, the Ministry indicated that registering the names of those wishing to return to Syria according to the instructions will be with the Syrian embassies and consulates, and there is no need for those who have previously registered their name there to do so again. It is sufficient only to communicate with the embassy or consulate by phone, via e-mail or any another way to inform them of the date of leaving Syria so that the lists of those wishing to return can be updated in preparation for programming Syrian flights to return them to the country.
The process of returning Syrian citizens abroad, according to the Ministry’s instructions, includes“the stranded citizens abroad who left Syria from the following dates 1-1-2020 until 1-5-2020 and students wishing to return to the country due to the suspension of studies in educational institutions in the countries they are present in, as well as officials who were on mission who were unable to return due to the closure of the inter-State border”.
