Intensive efforts to rehabilitate service facilities damaged by terrorism in Idleb’s liberated countryside
IDLEB, (ST)- Terrorism has caused huge destruction to the infrastructure and service facilities in several areas in Idleb countryside.
After the Syrian Arab army liberated a number of these areas, the government spared no effort to rehabilitate all the services facilities in these areas including the electricity and water networks as well as schools in order to encourage displaced locals to return to their houses in the villages liberated from terrorism.
The areas liberated by the Syrian Army from terrorism in Idleb countryside extend over a wide geographical area in the province, especially in its southern and eastern countryside, including in Khan Sheikhoun, Sinjar and Maarat al-Numan areas, whose infrastructure was severely damaged by terrorist attacks and acts of vandalism.
Director of the General Company of Idlib Electricity, Eng. Mamdouh Abdo told SANA reporter that electricity system in the liberated areas was almost completely destroyed when terrorist groups were controlling these areas. He indicated that the damage that was caused to electric power stations and lines was assessed and studies in this regard were prepared and submitted to authorities with the purpose of conducting necessary maintenance and rehabilitation works.
With regard to the city of Khan Sheikhoun, to which hundreds of displaced families have returned after being liberated from terrorism, eng. Abdo said that an amount of 200 million Syrian pounds has been allocated to start implementing a 20 kV electrical power line at a length of 16 km from Morek area near the city of Khan Sheikhoun on the Hama-Aleppo international highway. In addition, 3 electric transformation centers with a capacity of 200 kVA will be built in the city.
Regarding drinking water projects, Eng. Mohamed Ajami, Director of the General Organization for Drinking Water in Idleb, revealed in a statement that work is currently underway to equip 4 wells to ensure water for the people returning to Khan Sheikhoun. He indicated that there are also about 17 water wells in Maaret al-Nouman city, whose mechanical and electrical installations were looted and vandalized by terrorists over the past period.
