Sanctions imposed on Syria hinder the country’s efforts to fight coronavirus: Nebenzia

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia has affirmed that the economic sanctions imposed on Syria hinder the country’s access to the medical equipment necessary to fight coronavirus which can’t be effective without the return of the entire Syrian territories to the Syrian sovereignty.

Russia Today quoted the Russian diplomat as saying during a Security Council session via video on Wednesday that the sanctions being imposed by the United States, the European Union, Canada and Turkey on Syria damage the Syrian economy, badly affect the citizens and hinder importing key medical equipment and medicine which make confronting the corona epidemic more difficult.

  Nebenzia affirmed that the countries that occupy Syrian territories as well as the terrorist organizations operating in several Syrian areas are completely responsible for confronting coronavirus in these areas.
