An Egyptian parliamentarian: Western measures imposed on Syria are an attempt to influence its steadfastness
On April 26, a Member of the Egyptian Parliament Margaret Azar called for ending the unilateral economic coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria.
“In light of the current global situation of the spread of the new Coronavirus, it is not possible to continue with any kind of siege on the Syrian state,” Azar said in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA)’s correspondent in Cairo.
“Syria fought terrorism and incurred many burdens, and therefore the continuation of these coercive measures by the United States and the European Union are an attempt to influence the resilience of Syria and its people in the face of conspiracy schemes,” Azar added.
Azar considered that it is the selfish interests and political and economic ambitions that drive Washington to take these hostile policies towards Syria.
