DAMASCUS, (ST)- An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale Wednesday morning hit an area 40 km off the northern coast of Lattakia
People in some Syrian cities as well as in Turkey and Cyprus felt the earthquake, which occurred at 10:40 a.m. local time, according to the National Center for Seismology.
The National Seismic Monitoring Center said that the earthquake was followed by an aftershock measuring 4.6 on Richter scale at 11: 18 a.m. off the Syrian coast, 36 km to the northwest of Lattakia.
