A Syrian Novelist Dedicates her Literary works to Women Issues

The empowerment and autonomy of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic and health status is an end in itself. In addition , it is essential for the achievement of sustainable development.

Top priority is presented  by the novelist Muntaha Sulieman  Al-Ayada  whose   various literary works are harnessed to advocate for women and address their concerns  to enable them to articulate their  needs and ensure the full and equal participation of women in decision-making processes in all spheres of life..

“ The fact that women constitute half the entire population of the society  motivated me to concentrate on addressing women’s issues  and call for full participation of women in the society as experiences  show that population and development programs are most effective when steps have been simultaneously  taken to improve the statue of women”  Al-Ayada   made it clear to SANA .

The novelist underlined that women shoulder several extreme responsibilities  with regard to housework, bringing-up a well-informed future generation  as well as being outside the home as a worker  and producer who participates in building and defending their country.

Al-Ayada  indicates that the woman formed a basic anchor and the focus of the narrative plot in  her two previously published novels entitled “Neck under the Knife” and “Buthainah” in addition to a novel , which is under publication ,   entitled “Women on Naked Sidewalks” .

She stressed that her literary works  addressed the suffering of the female in society and the difficulties she  encounters  at home , work and  concerning social relations, especially that many worn out social customs and traditions oppress women, especially when they give up.

Al-Ayada pointed out that the social media is playing a positive key role as it helps the writer and poet to deliver creativity to the audience all over the  world  and provides  the writer  with a chance to spread and reach a larger fan base.

It is noteworthy to mention that the novelist  was born in Al-Qamishli in 1960 and  won a number of prizes  and honoring certificates from literary bodies and establishments  in Egypt, Iraq and Morocco…
