Iran welcomes Russia’s proposal to create ‘green corridor’ instead of sanctions

Tehran, (ST) – Iran has announced its welcome for Russia’s proposal to create a ‘green corridor’ instead of the economic sanctions imposed by the West on several countries as part of a measure to combat the emerging Corona virus.

Various countries shut down their geographical borders to curb coronavirus spread but open them to provide assistanceand we welcome Russia’s idea of creating a green corridor instead of economic war and sanctions Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday via Twitter in Russian.

Zarif indicated that the administration of US President Donald Trump still resists demands of the international community to lift anti-Iranian sanctions to counter the coronavirus infection.”

The Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi stressed in a statement yesterday on the occasion of endorsing the statement of the United Nations General Assembly under the title “Global Solidarity in Combating Coronavirus” on the need to abolish the unilateral US embargo against countries in order to help in countering this epidemic.
