Work at ministries and affiliated institutions will be suspended until further notice within anti-coronavirus precautionary measures

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Saturday issued a circular asking all ministers to suspend work at the ministries and their affiliated institutions where suspension of work does not hinder efforts to fight the danger of coronavirus spread.

Suspension will start tomorrow and last until further notice.

The new decision is part of the government’s precautionary measures to confront coronavirus and to fortify public safety in the country.

According to the circular, the number of employees in the institutions that are necessary to continue working will be kept to a minimum. Suspension excludes all kinds of productive facilities.

The premier also issued a circular to governors asking them to make necessary decisions to close the markets and halt all trade, services, cultural and social activities starting from Sunday, March 22, 2020. The aim is to reduce the movement of citizens in the markets and other public places to the lowest level to maintain public health and safety.

The circular excluded the centers where food and supply materials are sold in addition to pharmacies and heath centers which must abide by public health and safety procedures.
