Washington’s China media cap a self-humiliating farce

BEIJING- China on Wednesday announced countermeasures against restrictive measures on Chinese media agencies in the United States.

Spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Geng Shuang said in a statement on Wednesday commenting on China’s withdrawing of the accreditation of a number of American journalists working in China, that Beijing has to take necessary countermeasures in response to the unreasonable oppression the Chinese media organizations experience in the United States

He warned that “if the United States insists on walking farther down the wrong path, China will be forced to take further countermeasures.”

The U.S. announced earlier this month that five of China’s state-controlled media outlets would be restricted to 100 visas, the de facto expelling of about 60 journalists.

A commentary titled “Washington’s China media cap a self-humiliating farce” published by Xinhua news agency shed light on the false US freedom of press, saying  that as Washington’s political crackdown on Chinese media outlets in the United States took effect on Friday, the two-faced nature of America’s so-called freedom of the press is being fully exposed.
