President al-Assad issues a law abolishing mitigated punishment for “honor killings”

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar al-Assad issues a law deleting an article that had provided mitigated punishment for ‘honor killings’.

According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the president issued today  law No.2 for the year 2020 on deleting article No. 548 of the Penal Code issued in accordance to legislative decree No. 148 for the year 1949, which had provided a mitigated punishment for ‘honor killings’.
