New deaths recorded and infections with the Corona virus in a number of countries around the world

The number of deaths and infections of the emerging coronavirus increased in a number of countries in the world, while new countries announced the registration of infections for the first time.

In Beijing, the Chinese National Health Committee announced today, 19 new cases of coronavirus confirmed, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 80,754 in addition to 17 new deaths, bringing the number of deaths to 3136 deaths indicating that 59,897 people have recovered from the disease.

In turn, the Japanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of deaths due to the virus reached 16 deaths, while the number of infections rose to 510 cases, while the number of cases of the virus in South Korea reached 7513 after recording 131 new cases.

In the same context the Syrian Health Ministry is  strengthening  its strict precautionary measures at border crossings to detect any cases of the emerging corona virus. The Ministry of Health provided Damascus International Airport with a thermal scanner to measure the temperature of people coming to Syria.

Dr. Hazar Raef, Director of Damascus Health, explained in a statement to SANA that the Ministry, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, yesterday installed the device to facilitate the accurate measurement of body temperature and save time and effort as more than one person’s temperature can be taken at the same time and the device gives a signal when there is raise in the temperature of the person then the rest of the  procedure is applied.

Dr. Raef pointed out that the Ministry is working to install similar devices in the rest of the border crossings, pointing to the continued application of strict health procedures on all crossings where medical teams working throughout the day measure the temperatures for travelers coming to Syria and in the event of a suspicion, necessary medical examinations are performed .

Dr. Raef reaffirmed that there is no infection with the Corona virus in Syria so far, explaining that samples are being taken on a daily basis from people suspected of infection from government and private centers and hospitals in all governorates and sent to the reference laboratory at the Ministry of Health, which was recently equipped in cooperation with the World Health Organization .
