President al-Assad and President Putin discuss developments in Syria during phone call

Damascus,(ST)– President Bashar al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed during a phone call on Friday the developments in Syria.

President Putin congratulated President al-Assad over the achievements made during the recent battles in Idleb, briefing His Excellency on the results of the meetings he held along with Russian officials with Turkish officials on Thursday.

President al-Assad expressed satisfaction over what was achieved by the Russian leadership during the meeting with the Turkish side in Moscow and over the potential positive effects that these achievements could have on the Syrian people on various levels, including humanitarian, social, and economic levels, if the Turkish side commits to them.
It was affirmed during the call that the agreements which had been reached are part of the efforts to guarantee Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and they could also contribute to setting a suitable atmosphere for relaunching the political process.
