Syrian member of parliament Ahmad Meree has made it clear that the issuance of the presidential decree setting the date for parliamentary elections in Syria will neither affect the political process, nor hinder the serious efforts being exerted to reach a solution to the ongoing crisis in the country.
In a statement to Syria Times e-newspaper, the parliamentarian stressed that today’s decree is a message to those who have conspired against Syria that Syria is able to address constitutional topics with high efficiency.
“Syria won’t face a legislative vacuum as the conspirators desire. The parliamentary elections will be held on time,” Meree concluded.
Today, President Bashar al-Assad issued Decree No. 76 for 2020 setting Monday [ April 13th] as the date for parliamentary elections.
