Yerevan will develop its relations with Damascus

YEREVAN, (ST)_The Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan has affirmed that his country seeks to develop relations and dialogue with Syria.

He highly appreciated Syria’s stances towards Armenia and the Syrian Parliament’s approval of a resolution recognizing and condemning the Armenian genocide committed by the Ottoman state at the turn of the 20th century.

“This step reflects the good and historic relations between the peoples of Armenia and Syria and it will help prevent the perpetration of massacres in the future,” the Armenian official said.

He also pointed out that Syria is the home of thousands of Armenians and a haven for the Armenian genocide survivors, who have become Syrian citizens participating in all fields of life.

The Armenian minister pointed out that the government of his country sent the Armenian humanitarian mission to Syria despite the pressures put on it.

His remarks were made during his meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Armenian Mohammad Haj Ibrahim, who thanked Armenia for its stances towards Syria.
