Algeria, Germany Support International Conference on Political Solution to Crisis in Syria

ALGIERS, (ST) – Germany and Algeria fully support holding an international conference to attain a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

AFP quoted the German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle as saying in a joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart Mourad Medelci in Algiers on Saturday “We fully support the US-Russian initiative about holding an international conference to attain a political settlement in Syria.”

“We will spare no effort to make this conference a success,” Westerwelle added.

For his part, Medelci expressed the two countries’ support for attaining a political solution in Syria and Mali.

Replying a question on the issue of human rights in Algeria, Medelci stressed that this is an internal Algerian issue.

“Human rights include the right to security, “I don’t think that a single country in the region has achieved more progress than Algeria in the security field,” Medelci said.
