Russia to continue supporting Syria in its war on terrorism until its complete elimination

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russia will continue to support Syria in its war on terrorism until its complete elimination, the Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stressed.

Commenting on the remarks made by US President Donald Trump, who condemned Russian support for Syria in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Peskov said in a statement to journalists that “the Russian advisors and Russian armed forces will press ahead with their support for the Syrian armed forces in their fight against terrorism.”

He affirmed that his country deplores the criminal activities of the terrorists in Idleb.

On the other hand, Peskov emphasized that Russian forces have no presence in Libya.

In a relevant context, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the terrorist organizations in Idleb continue to target Syrian Army positions as well as the neighboring areas and the Russian Hmeimin base.

These attacks should be stopped, he told journalists on the sidelines of the Munich Security conference.
