With the participation of Syria, activities of the Gulfood exhibition for 2020 were kicked off on Sunday at Dubai World Trade Center in the UAE. The exhibition is considered one of the largest food exhibitions in the world.
The exhibition, which is scheduled to continue until February 21, is the most important forum for food sector companies. It annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors with the participation of more than 5,000 exhibitors from 189 countries around the world. The exhibition is an opportunity for Syrian companies to ensure partnerships with international companies and to introduce locally manufactured food products.
22 Syrian companies are participating in the exhibition on an area of 207 meters, Director General of the Commission for Supporting and Developing Domestic Production and Exports Dr. Ibrahim Midah stated in a statement to SANA, the companies are specialized in the manufacture of canned foods and goods, coffee, hot drinks, olive oil, biscuits, sweets, dried fruits and spices plus the products that enjoy high quality and competitiveness.
For his part, a member of the Board of Directors of Damascus and Damascus countryside Chamber of Industry, head of the food sector, Talal Qalagi said that participation in these exhibitions aims to take advantage of the latest innovative solutions addressed to food producers and suppliers.
Qalagi pointed out that the Syrian participation in Gulfood is not limited to the Syrian pavilion, which the Commission has booked as part of its support for the participation of Syrian companies in foreign and international exhibitions, but there are dozens of Syrian companies that have booked wider spaces for them in the pavilion of international companies, noting that the Syrian participation has been large this year.
