On February 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized the United States’ proposal of the so-called “deal of the century” and stressed that Washington ignores the international resolutions related to the Palestinian issue.
In an interview with the Italian Stampa Daily published by Russia Today, Lavrov doubted the possibility that Washington plan would settle the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
On January 28, US President Donald Trump announced the terms of the so-called “deal of the century”.
In another context, Lavrov said that the situation in Libya did not witness a fundamental change after the international conference held in the German capital Berlin last month. Lavrov underlined the need to make progress on all tracks of the settlement of this crisis.
It is noteworthy that relations between Russia and Western countries deteriorated after the Ukrainian crisis and the joining of Crimea to Russia in March 2014.
