A mass grave containing bodies of some 70 civilians and soldiers, executed by terrorist groups, found in Eastern Ghouta

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- The Syrian Arab Army in cooperation with authorities has found a mass grave in Al-Ab farms to the southeast of Douma in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside. The mass grave contains the bodies of some 70 civilians and military personnel who were executed by the terrorist groups in this area.

According to Chief of the military police branch in Damascus, Brigadier Mohammad Mansour, said that based on information from private sources, a mass grave containing the bodies of approximately 70 civilians and military martyrs, including a woman, who were executed by terrorist organizations after being kidnapped and tortured, was discovered in Al-Ab farms near the city of Douma.

Most of the bodies were found hands tied in the same place, said the police chief, pointing out that their martyrdom took place between 2012 and 2014.  

He added that there is an extension of the mass grave and that tomorrow the process of pulling out the martyrs’ bodies will be completed in cooperation with Civil Defense teams. They martyrs will be transferred to Tishreen Military Hospital. 

Ayman Khalu, a medical examiner in Tishreen Hospital said that preliminary examination showed that most of the martyrs were executed by gunshots to the head.

He added that the remains of the martyrs will be transferred to the hospital for DNA testing in order to identify them and hand them over to their families.

Eastern Ghouta was entirely liberated by the Syrian Arab army from terrorist organizations on April 14, 2018 after all terrorists left Douma, their last stronghold in Eastern Ghouta, to Idleb in the northwest of Syria.
