UN warns of the danger of the Israeli occupation entity annexing parts of the West Bank

New York,( ST) –  The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East, Nikolai Mladenov, warned of the danger of the Israeli occupation entity annexing parts of the West Bank, stressing that this step would constitute a provocation that undermines efforts to bring peace to the region.

Russia Today quoted Mladenov as saying in a briefing he gave during a session of the UN Security Council yesterday about the so-called deal of the century that “the Israeli trend to annex large parts of the West Bank in addition to the Jordan Valley escalation and provocation will further complicate the situation on the ground.”

Mladenov said that these steps will have “a devastating effect on the prospects for a two-state solution, will close the door to negotiations, will have negative consequences in the region and will seriously undermine prospects for returning the situation to normal and bringing peace to the region.”
Last month, in a breach of international resolutions, US President Donald Trump announced the terms of the so-called deal of the century aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue, which sparked widespread Palestinian rejection.
