SOCHI- Russian President Vladimir Putin has explained to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon Russia’s attitude to ways of settling the crisis in Syria, presidential press-secretary Dmitry Peskov told the media on Friday.

Itar Tass News agency quoted Peskov as saying that there was a detailed exchange of opinion and full and detailed review of key aspects of international relations.

“The Syrian settlement-related problems were discussed in detail,” Peskov added.

He pointed out that Putin briefed Ban Ki-Moon on his contacts with British Prime Minister David Cameron, Egypt’s President Mohamed Morsi and South African President Jacob Zuma and that he explained Russia’s position on Syria.

Peskov said that President Putin and Ki-Moon stressed that all peace-making efforts and the settlement of conflict situations must be based on international law and there could be no alternative to that.”
