Manipulation inside OPCW aims at turning it into a tool to implement western agendas: Moscow

MOSCOW, (ST)-  The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has witnessed manipulation as well as violations that aim at turning it into a tool to implement Western schemes, the Russian Foreign Ministry has stressed.

Commenting on the OPCW internal investigation into the “leaking of sensitive information” about the alleged chemical attack in Syria’s Douma in April, 2018, the Ministry said that the conference held by Director General  of the Technical Secretariat of the OPCW Fernando Arias did not answer the most important question on whether the OPCW report was politicized or not.

According  to the ministry the situation in the OPCW is deteriorating, and that the OPCW’s conference was held to deviate attention away from the core issue which is the blatant manipulation inside it.

Sputnik cited British observers as saying that the OPCW’s campaign against the whistleblowers who questioned the watchdog’s Douma report has failed to achieve the desired effect, stressing that the OPCW has yet to dispel suspicions triggered by its file.

On February 6th , OPCW issued what it called findings of possible breaches of confidentiality with regard to two whistleblowers’ exposure of the watchdog’s manipulation of facts concerning the April 2018 alleged Douma chemical incident. It lambasted the whistleblowers behind the disclosure and proposed certain measures to prevent future leaks.
