Russian UN envoy: Syrian state has the right to continue combatting terrorism until eliminating it completely

New York (ST): Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya  affirmed that the terrorists of al-Nosra Front in Idleb have escalated their attacks since the end of last year,  stressing that they should not be allowed to press ahead with such attacks.During the UN Security Council session, Nebenzya stressed that it is the right of the Syrian state to continue  combatting terrorism on its soil until eliminating it completely.

He added that members of the so-called “the commission of the liberation of al-Sham”which has been on the UN list of terrorist organizations, have intensified their terrorist attacks against the Syrian and Russian positions including the Hmeimem base, referring  to the fact that more than 400 attacks were registered during last December and the number has increased to 1000 during January causing the death of hundreds of civiliansHe went on to say that emergency meetings about Syria are only held when the terrorists are in danger as a result of the operations of the  Syrian army whose right and duty it is to combat terrorism and restore control allover the Syrian territories.

The Russian diplomat said that the terrorists in Idleb have been taking  civil buildings such as schools and hospitals as shields. He severely criticized the stands of some states which tried to hold the Syrian and Russian governments responsible for   the events in Idleb denouncing the  operations carried out by the illegitimate Washington alliance in Raqqa and al-Mosul.

He called on the American forces which occupy the Syrian oil fields to return these oil fields to their illegitimate owners instead of plundering the Syrian resources.

In turn, Chinese deputy permanent representative at the UN renewed his country’s stand which calls for resolving the Syrian crisis through political channels.
