DAMASCUS, (ST)- Boosting economic and investment cooperation between Syria and Iran to confront the challenges and sanctions the peoples of the two countries are facing was the main theme of Prime Minister Imad Khamis’s meeting with an Iranian delegation, led by Hassan Danaeifar, Advisor to Iran’s First Vice-President and Chairman of the Iranian Committee on the Development of Economic Relations with Syria and Iraq.
The two sides talked on eliminating the obstacles facing the implementation of the agreements signed between Syria and Iran and on signing new agreements to expand cooperation in the areas of investment, foreign trade, industry, infrastructure, housing and transport.
The Premier said that the Syrian-Iranian economic relations are progressing steadily towards more cooperation, integration and openness, noting the importance of finding new mechanisms for coordination and cooperation in the service of the peoples of both countries.
Danaeifar, on his part, reaffirmed his country’s support for Syria in its war on terrorism and in the confrontation of the western coercive economic measures. He called for enhancing cooperation in all economic fields.
Earlier, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudah Sabbagh held talks with Danaeifar and the accompanying delegation on coordination between Syria and Iran in the face of the forces of hegemony, mainly the United States.
Sabbagh said that the terrorist war on Syria targets its sovereignty, unity and independent decision, pointing out that every time, Syria and its allies and friends achieve gains in the war on terror, sponsors of terrorism, particularly the Zionist entity and the Turkish regime, hurry to launch attacks on Syrian territories in a desperate attempt to weaken the steadfastness of the Syrian people.
