A ministerial committee was briefed on the damaged infrastructure in Maarat al-Numan

On February 5, a ministerial committee visited the city of Maarat al-Numan in southern Idlib countryside and was briefed on the damaged infrastructure and service facilities caused by terrorism.

The Committee was briefed on the  preparation for setting time schedules for reuse of  these damaged  infrastructure and service facilities and  the return of  displaced people to their homes as quickly as possible.

 

The committee, which  included the Ministers of Water Resources, Local Administration and Environment, and Electricity, toured the city’s districts and its services  including a water pumping station in Biseda, the Ba’ath Party’s HQs,   the cultural center, the tomb of the philosopher and   poet Abu Ala’a al-Ma’ari,  the National Hospital, schools and the electricity transfer station transfer.

Minister of Water Resources Eng. Hussein Arnous pointed out that the committee’s tour comes within the framework of assessing the current reality of service facilities and centers and arranging priorities for setting a plan and work program for their reuse.

Minister of Local Administration and Environment Eng. Hussein Makhlouf said that the first step in the reconstruction process begins with removing debris and opening roads.

Minister of Electricity Eng. Muhammad Zuhair Kharbutli described the damage to the electrical networks and cables of  Marat al-Numan as “fatal” as a result of terrorist acts.
