Beijing doing its best to ensure safety of Syrians in China amid Coronavirus outbreak: Chinese Ambassador
DAMASCUS, (ST)- China’s Ambassador in Damascus Feng Biao has stressed that Beijing is doing its best to control the spread of Coronavirus and reduce death rate, pointing out that his country is in continuous contact and cooperation with the Syrian embassy in Beijing to ensure the safety of the Syrians in China.
In a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus on Wednesday, Biao explained the procedures taken by China to prevent further spread of the disease.
“27 Syrians have been evacuated from Wuhan city on board of Iranian Airlines. Necessary tests were conducted before they left to Syria to confirm that they are not infected with Coronavirus,” said Biao.
He asserted that his country has taken precautionary measures for the embassy staff traveling from Beijing to Damascus.
The ambassador went on to say that though Coronavirus is dangerous, the number of cured cases is much bigger than the number of deaths, pointing out that there is no need for panic or fear, because this disease is treatable and preventable.
He thanked Syria for supporting China in the current critical situation.
China has been battling the outbreak of a novel Coronavirus which has so far infected over 28,000 Chinese citizens and claimed more than 560 lives, according to Chinese health authorities.
