Tehran,(ST)- Abbas Mousavi, spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, affirmed that the Syrian state has the right to rid all its lands of terrorism, stressing the need for other countries to respect the Syrian state’s decision to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Mousavi said in his weekly press conference today that the Syrian state has the right to liberate the remaining Syrian lands from Takfiri terrorism and preserve Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, in reference to the operations of the Syrian Arab Army in Idlib and its outskirts.
Mousavi reaffirmed that the Syrian people are the ones who decide the future of their country, pointing out that the only political solution to settling the crisis in Syria and pointing in this regard to the importance of the Astana discussions to achieve this.
Mousavi pointed out that the Iranian presence in some countries of the region is that of consultancy and at the request of the governments of those countries, indicating that his country employs all its capabilities to establish security and stability in the region and that its policy in this framework is a policy of building confidence.
In another context, Mousavi criticized the so-called “deal of the century” that the American President announced recently, stressing that it constitutes a violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and leads to the obliteration of the Palestine issue, pointing out that Iran, leadership and people, stand with the Palestinian people until the liberation of their land and considers the Palestinian issue an Arab and Islamic issue.
On the other hand, Mousavi said that “America should radically change its dealings with Iran, lift the embargo measures and return to the nuclear agreement,” noting at the same time that the crime committed by Washington last month with the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad was “unforgivable.”
