Syria participates in the conference of the Federation of Councils of the Member States of OIC

With the participation of Syria, the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Federation of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was launched on January 29 in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

A delegation from the Syrian People’s Assembly (Parliament)  participated in the meetings of the Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee, which adopted a draft resolution related to the humanitarian situation in Syria confirming commitment to Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.

The draft resolution condemned the terrorist acts committed by terrorist organizations in Syria, stressing the total rejection of any illegal military presence on Syrian soil.

The draft resolution called on all member states of the Federation of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take effective and immediate measures in coordination with Syria to consider humanitarian needs.

It is noteworthy that the People’s Assembly delegation participated in the official opening of the work of the conference and the twenty-second session of the General Committee, as well as in the ninth conference of Muslim Women Parliamentarians.

On January 28, the People’s Assembly delegation participated in the activities of the eighth meeting of the Economic and Environmental Affairs Committee, where Syria, in addition to Sudan, Tunisia and Qatar, represented the Arab group in the membership of this committee.
