President Bashar al-Assad chairs a meeting on the national project for administrative reform

On January 28, President Bashar al-Assad headed a meeting on the stages of implementation of the national project for administrative reform and what has been achieved in this regard.

Prime Minister Eng. Imad Khamis and a number of ministers attended the meeting.

The participants discussed the final version of the financial disclosure law, which will be presented in the Cabinet of Ministers in preparation for its approval because of the positive impact of this law.

The law will establish principles of integrity, equality and institutional transparency in order to achieve corruption prevention, reduce illicit earning and protect public money.

The Minister of Administrative Development Dr. Salam Safaf gave a presentation on the results of work in the preparatory phase for the implementation of the national project for administrative reform in the Ministries of Local Administration and Environment, Public Works and Housing,and Finance, especially in the areas of human resource management.

The Minister of Public Works and Housing Eng. Suhail Abdul Latif and Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf presented the new organizational structure of their ministries, which dealt with the problems faced by old dinosaur like administrative structures .

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mamoun Hamdan clarified the gaps in the current organizational structure of the ministry and the procedures being worked on to correct these gaps.

President al-Assad gave instructions to begin applying the preliminary stage of the administrative reform program in the rest of the Ministries concurrently according to the steps employed in the Ministries of Local Administration and Environment, Public Works and Housing, and Finance, as well as focusing on a number of main points that raise work efficiency at public establishments and achieve optimal investment in the human resources that are available at these establishments and that would join them in the future.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Health, Social Affairs and Labor, the Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers.
