Syrian Army operations in Aleppo and Idleb come in response to citizens’ calls, in retaliation against terrorists’ crimes

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has stressed that the military operations being carried out by the Syrian Arab Army in Aleppo and Idleb come as a response to the Syrian citizens’ calls and in retaliation to the crimes being committed by the terrorist groups there.

Terrorist organizations led by the blacklisted Jabhat al-Nusra and its affiliated terror groups continue with their attacks on residential areas and service facilities including hospitals, schools and worshipping places in Aleppo and Idleb provinces, claiming the lives of innocent people and wounding others including women, children and elderly and causing destruction to civil infrastructure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Saturday in two letters addressing the UN Chief and President of the Security Council.

For example, 23 civilians were martyred only last week in the rocket attacks launched by terrorists on al-Sukkari neighborhood and other districts in Aleppo on January 16th, 2020, said the ministry in its letters.

The ministry also stressed that Jabhat al-Nusra and its allied groups continue besieging civilians in terrorist-held areas and preventing them from leaving to safe areas through the humanitarian corridors opened by authorities for this purpose in Abu al-Duhour, al-Habeit and al-Hader areas in the countryside of Idleb and Aleppo two weeks ago. Those terror groups target every citizen approaching the corridors and shell the corridors areas with mortars and sniper fire to frighten everyone who wants to leave, the ministry added.

Pursuant to the Syrian constitution and international laws, the Syrian Arab Republic stresses that the military operations being carried out by the Syrian Army and its allies to eliminate the terrorists of Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra gangs and other terrorist groups won’t stop till the complete eradication of all the terrorists who are threatening the security and safety of Syrian civilians, the ministry concluded.
