Turkish regime authorities detain 40 people

Ankara, (ST) – Today, the Turkish regime authorities arrested forty former police officers under the pretext of their association with preacher Fethullah Gulen, who is accused by the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan of being behind the attempted coup in July 2016. 

“The arrests took place in the cities and governorates of Konya, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Adiyaman, Adana, Trabzon, Yozgat, Bursa and in the capital, Ankara,” the Anatolian Agency, speaking on behalf of the Turkish regime, security sources were quoted as saying.

“The arrest campaign targets a total of 50 former police officers, including four commanders.Forty officers were arrested, and searches for the rest are still ongoing”, the sources added.
During the years following the coup attempt, the authorities of the Turkish regime imprisoned more than 77,000 people and made decisions to dismiss or suspend work against some 150,000 workers in the government, the army, the judiciary, education, and other institutions.
