Syrian army engaged in fierce fighting with terrorist groups in Idleb

IDLEB, (ST)_  The Syrian army units were engaged  today in fierce fighting  with al-Nusra Front terrorists and their allied groups in the eastsouthern countryside of Idleb. 

The fighting occurred when the terrorist groups attacked with heavy machine-guns the army positions at the axis of Abo Defneh town. 

The army units inflicted heavy losses upon the terrorist attackers and targeted their supply routes in the region. 

Several armored cars belonging to terrorists were destroyed during the fighting.

Yesterday, the army units repelled terrorist groups attack at the axis of Halban town in the same region. 

Since January 16, 2020, the terrorist groups carried out 16 attacks on the de-escalation zone in Idleb plus 253 shelling operations on safe towns and cities in the region. 

47 Syrian soldiers and 51 civilians were martyred and 77 soldiers and 116 civilians were wounded in the terror attacks, according to a statement released by Hmimmim center. 

The statement affirmed that the terrorist groups used NATO weapons in their attacks.
