The situation in Daraa is under control

The situation in Daraa province, south of Syria,  is under control and it is not the dark picture that some media outlets are trying to circulate, The Governor of Daraa Mohammad Khalid al-Hannos said.

He was quoted by Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper as saying: “Daraa is fine and it will remain fine and it will continue to support the Syrian army and President Bashar al-Assad.”

The governor commented on media reports about big tension in Daraa countryside by saying: “I think the situation in under control and not as you imagine it. Most of the attacks on Syrian army’ positions in Daraa province occur in the night, but they are not out of control. The coming days will be better.”

Yesterday, RT quoted a military source as saying that an explosion hit one of the Special authorities’ headquarters in Daraa province in parallel with repelling an attack launched by unknown armed groups on Syrian arm’s check point to the east of Daraa.

Another explosion was carried out by unknown armed groups in Souk al-Hal in Tafas city in Daraa countryside.

“Daraa had been an operation center for Syria’s enemies  for 9 years and within this framework there are still the remnants of armed groups, who have been hurt because of the liberation of Daraa. These groups carry out attacks in the night and they are still receiving foreign support ,” the governor asserted, pointing out that security services are pursuing these groups

He indicated that the Syrian state has exerted every possible effort to rebuild the infrastructures and to repair roads, markets, electricity and water resources.

“Today, there is no shelter in the province as all people have returned to their towns,” al-Hannos said, affirming that 95% of Daraa residents are at the Syrian state’s side.

The governor was talking to the newspaper from his house in Daraa al-Balad.

The Syrian army liberated Daraa from terrorist groups on August, 14, 2018.
