The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon: The situation in Syria is heading towards a solution

The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasbekin stressed today that the situation in Syria is heading towards a solution, noting that the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad have “positive and significant indications”.

The visit, which comes in an atmosphere of tension and anxiety in the region, is proving to the world the stable, coherent and firm position between the two countries, Zasbekin said in a television interview on Wednesday.

 

He pointed out that the meeting of President Assad and President Putin is very important in terms of laying down the features of the next stage and completing the process of combating terrorism as well as comprehensive cooperation, and this has significant implications in the international arena and in the region.

“The situation in Syria is evolving and heading towards a solution, and this is the basic path agreed to by all, Zasbekin said, adding that  there are some forces that are working for reaching a solution  in a serious and tangible manner, while  other forces don’t not support this matter, such as the United States and others.
