Iraq: The Assassination of Soleimani and al-Muhandis is a provocative Aggression and a reckless escalation

Iraqi President Barham Saleh severely denounced  the American criminal aggression that led to the martyrdom of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani,  the head of  the Quds Force and Iranian Revolutionary Guard,  as well as   deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis   and a number of the mobilization commission members , stressing that the two martyrs, Gen. Suleimani and al-Muhandis  have an important and decisive role in combating  Daesh  terrorist organization ISIS  .

The Iraqi Alsumaria News website mentioned that Saleh warned in a statement on Friday of the security implications of this aggression on Iraq and the region, stressing the need to adhere to national unity and overcome conflicts  in order to protect supreme national interests and protect the sovereignty and security of Iraq and to avoid the scourge and tragedies of armed conflicts which Iraq  has suffered from  for four decades. 

Iraqi Joint Operations Command: American criminal aggression is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty

In a related context, the joint operations command in the Iraqi armed forces confirmed on Friday  that the American criminal aggression that led to the martyrdom of Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces and  Iranian General Qassem Soleimani the head of al-Quds forces and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commandor   is a “flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty.”

Alsumariah News website quoted the deputy commander of joint operations in the Iraqi forces, Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, as saying in a statement: “We confirm that what happened is a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and a clear  violation  by  the American forces .

A number of   Iraqi personalities also unanimously condemned the American criminal aggression which  constituted a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty and independence.

On his part   speaker of the  Council of Representatives of Iraq , Muhammad Al-Halbousi, considered that targeting a high-ranked  military commander  constituted a clear  “flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty.”

Al Halbousi said in a statement: “What took place  on  Baghdad International Airport road   is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a violation of international charters”.

He called on the government in this sensitive circumstance to take the necessary political, legal and security  measures to stop such attacks, warning of its repercussions  that may threaten the peace of Iraq and the region, recalling the key and brave  role of the  martyr Al-Muhandis    in the battles of liberating the  Iraqi lands from the defilement of the  terrorist Daesh  organization . 

  Head of the Iraqi National ( Al-Hekmeh)  Wisdom Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, strongly condemned the American aggression and the flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty, warning of the repercussions, effects and seriousness of this targeting, as it escalates tension in the  region , calling on the Iraqi government in this sensitive circumstance to take the necessary measures to deter such attacks.

He also called  on the Iraqi people to unite and close ranks to meet the challenges.

For his part, the head of the Iraqi Parliamentary Alliance  Hadi al-Amiri called on the national forces to unite ranks in order to expel the foreign forces, describing the assassination as “dirty and condemned criminal acts”, stressing that these actions “will only motivate  us with determination and  will  and  to continue the path of jihad and sacrifice for the sake of principles and values and building a mighty, strong and capable Iraq and achieving sovereignty. ”

The Iraqi Parliamentary Party “ Saeron”  stressed that this treacherous and cowardly attack constitutes a clear violation of the capabilities of Iraq and its people, calling on all members of the House of Representatives to attend the emergency session of the Council  due to be held on Saturday  to discuss this serious and blatant attack.

 The leader of the Iraqi coalition, Iyad Allawi,  considers  that Iraq is witnessing  the most dangerous stage in its history that requires holding a regional conference leading the entire region to peace.

 The  Iraqi National  List  stated that  the assassination of the two martyrs Al-Muhandis and Gen.  Soleimani is  a provocative aggression and a reckless escalation that inflames the region tensions and  and exposes Iraq to great risks.
