The presidents of the Libyan and Cypriot parliaments: the actions of the Turkish regime escalate tension

Nicosia, ST- Libyan Parliament Speaker Aqila Saleh Issa and President of the Cypriot House of Representative Demetris Syllouris confirmed that the actions of the Turkish regime are destabilizing the Mediterranean region.

In a joint statement after their meeting yesterday  in Nicosia, Issa and Syllouris described the agreement on maritime borders signed by the Turkish regime with the Libyan “conciliation government” as “a violation of international law and has no legal basis because it ignores the provisions of international law of the sea” adding: “Turkey’s actions escalate tension and destabilize the Mediterranean region.”

The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Libyan parliament, Yusuf Al-Aqouri, confirmed that the Turkish regime’s support for terrorism in Libya aims to find a foothold in it, explaining that the reconciliation government, that begged the intervention of the Turkish regime is “illegal and does not represent the will of the Libyan people because it did not obtain the confidence of Parliament.”
