Moscow, (ST) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed the need for a political solution to the crisis in Syria in accordance with Resolution 2254.
At the start of his talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates Walid al-Muallem in Moscow, Lavrov said that the international community should help return Syrian refugees to their country.
For his part, Al-Moallem said that Syria notes that Russia and China have vetoed a draft Security Council resolution that violates Syrian sovereignty.
Al-Muallem added that Syria is subject to continuous Turkish aggression and theft of its oil by the United States, pointing out that the American-Turkish-Israeli conspiracy against Syria continues to hinder its efforts in combating terrorism.
The need to eliminate terrorism in Syria once and for all says Lavrov
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that his country will continue to make efforts to settle the crisis in Syria and eliminate terrorism.
Lavrov said in a speech to the Council of the Russian Federation in Moscow today that it is necessary to implement international resolutions that affirm the sovereignty of states and not to interfere in their affairs.
He reiterated the need to eliminate terrorism in Syria once and for all, while continuing to work for a political solution to the crisis in it that guarantees respect for its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Lavrov stressed that his country will continue its efforts to settle the crises in Iraq, Libya and Yemen politically, with an emphasis on continuing to fight terrorist organizations until they are completely eliminated. .
In another context, Lavrov stressed that the United States’ imposition of sanctions on the Russian North Stream 2 gas pipeline leaves no country with any doubt about the unreliability of the United States.
