Athena,(ST)- A Greek police official announced today that unknown assailants set fire to the car of an employee of consulate of the Turkish system in the northern city of Thessaloniki.
Reuters quoted the official, who requested anonymity, as saying that the car was badly damaged, but there were no injuries.
Tension prevails between the Turkish regime and Greece against the backdrop of multiple issues, including the dispute over some islands in the Aegean Sea, as well as the provocations that Ankara is making as a result of its exploration of oil wealth near the coast of Cyprus. The Greek government recently announced that Athens submitted an objection to the United Nations regarding the agreement between the Libyan concord government and the Turkish regime on maritime borders, describing it as a violation of international law.
