Maronite Patriarch: Peace for Syria and ME

 CARACAS, (ST)_ Maronite  Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai called on  the international community to take responsibility for establishing peace in the Middle East.

During  a meeting with Arab ambassadors in Venezuela, in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio Ambassador Al-Rai said : “There are  countries in the East and the West provide weapons and money to  armed groups in the name of democracy and reforms and every day innocent victims are killed,” adding  ” Our mind and heart are always  with Syria.” 

He  joined the appeal of his holiness the Pope, in calling  for peace in the Middle East and the release of the kidnapped bishops  Metropolitan of Aleppo, Iskenderun and Surroundings  for the Greek Orthodox  church Bishop Boulos Yazigi and Metropolitan of Aleppo for  Syrian Orthodox Archbishop John Ibrahim ” 

He criticized some countries, which call for war in the Middle East, , noting : “How much it is difficult we have to hear international calls for war in the Middle East.  There are international resolutions must be respected by the international community, pertinent to the  Palestinian cause, liberation of Arab land, and peace in the region.”

” When we speak about peace in the Middle East and in Syria, we are not talking politics but about the misery , the innocent victims and the people who were killed  and expelled  from their homes.” Al-Rai  added.
